Pretty Cool,
Well I had a hundred bucks I wasn’t exactly using – so I bought this thing. I’d probably give it a 5 if the beam stayed a little bit tighter at greater distances. However, you might not be able to see the dot at distance if it didn’t slowly spread out a little. It seems to be the size of a basket ball when I point it at some of the furthest things I can see in my neighborhood. Drove toward town. Parked and pointed it at the water tower at night. Distance 1.1 miles – dot appeared to be about the size of a beach ball. Baseball sized dot would probably be more ideal. Went to a hill top 2.5 miles away, straight line (according to map)”dot” was probably 8 ft across. But I could see the “dot” on the tower (barely) and see the beam all the way there. That is probably the limit – at least with all the humidity, etc. around here. You can see the dot outside in daylight at least for a hundred plus feet or so. When overcast to seriously overcast – you can see the dot much further and even see the beam in the air outside. At dusk or twilight, obviously this thing performs even better. At this time of day I couldn’t find anything in my neighborhood I couldn’t hit and see the beam all the way there. Night time the beam is bright in the air and seems to go forever. Not to sure about this thing lighting a match. Put the beam on my hand for a few seconds – didn’t really feel anything. A dark match might feel it, however. I guess if I was a tour guide and had to point things out or a mountian guide that hiked during twilight hours and had to point out the route up a mountian, etc. – this thing would actually have a use. And you could use the flashlight to say “Oh, and watch your step”. This thing, I beleive, also comes in 100mW and 150mW. I haven’t yet found anything on the laser or in the packaging that says mine is 200mW. The instructions are the same for all and they have check boxes to indicate which one you have. Ofcoarse, none of the boxes are checked on mine. This wouldn’t be the laser for a game of laser-kitty or to mess with folks. First off, they will know where you are – as they’d be able to look down the beam to it’s source. Secondly, it’s far to bright to point at anyone. All in all, it seems well made and I haven’t boken mine yet. If you have a 100 bucks that you have nothing else to do with – it’s a recommend. Runs on 3 AAA batteries. If you have $300 to $800 – think 300mW to 500mW.
This product looked like it was sent Fedex to me directly from China. Came in a plain white box once I got though the packaging. From some othe other reviews I’ve read – the QC may be lacking and I may be lucky to have received one of the good ones.
Update: This laser will pop darker colored ballons if you are within a few feet of it. Watch out for the reflection, however!!! At least in my case, once you get over the “Wow factor” (which is definately there), you realize you really don’t have a use for it.

|Great product,
This product is a great iteam. It can pop ballons, burn ruber/plastic, and light matches. It is a great laser, but the led lights on mine did not work. I must be used with care and is a powerful laser.

|frustrated,
I purchased the 200mw laser pointer July 5th. The order was shipped quickly and I received it 2 weeks later. The laser does not stay bright for any long period of time. It goes very dim and stays that way and then sometimes brightens back up. I have changed the batteries (type) and have bench tested all of them to make sure I was not having an inferior power supply as the issue. I have wiggled and shaken the unit and a few times it got brighter. I wrote a message back to the seller and they have not responded. I would like to have that wow factor at a party or camping but all I get is aw that’s to bad. I figure if you spend $80 on a product and it is defective there should be some exchange from the seller in good faith. I do like the laser pointer when it is bright but that accounts for less than 1/4 of the time it is lit. I was also under the impression that it would light a match and pop a balloon. Both of these things I have not seen and I have tried on several occasions. If the seller rectifies this issue I would be happy to write a glowing report but I am not holding my breath.
Frustrated
